Welcome to
Pario Art
Pario Art is me, Mark Smith, an artist and urban economist. In my professional background as a researcher I have studied cities and the people and businesses that live in them. I've been an artist my adult life. Urban research and art may seem an odd life blend but it's me--and the blend is increasingly what my art is about.
The seed for my love of art is looking at drawings. I still do--and most of all I've grown to know that for me art is a rewarding lifelong path. What appears next is often a surprise, and often teaches me new things about art and the world.
Here's what occupies me now:
Drawings and paintings in the Denial Series.
Organizing the April 22, 02023 Day for Descendants Intentions & Altars show at Flat Black Gallery--it's Earth Day come celebrate!
Writing 'Mulch' on Substack, throwing out ideas for Day for Descendants gallery show artists and satellite show artists. Stop by Mulch!
Creating two-panel altars with both figurative and abstract inter-related paintings.
In-the-works = Day for Descendants Intentions & Altars
Now Organizing Year 2 -- the 2023 Gallery Show at Flat Black Gallery, Palm Desert, California
Here are a few images of the art and altar cards from last year's Flat Black Gallery show.
